Todd McLellan Takes Stuff Apart

This is a neat photography concept from Todd McLellan: take a typewriter (or a phone or a VCR) and take it apart into its smallest little parts. Then take a photo of the parts beautifully organized and a second photo of "parts explosion."

Open Lotus

This blown open lotus shows how a little color goes a long way to making an impact. I like how the tiny bit of pink at the tips, bright yellow center and grayish green shadows make this white lotus pop. Photo by zenjebil at sxc.hu

In Case of Rain

I like these two layered photographs by KarrieWelbornPhotos on Etsy. The raindrops look like clear crystals suspended in the sky and I keep looking back and forth between the different layers.

Interestingness

There's nothing like photos for visual stimulation and relaxation. I also like viewing photos to inspire colors, shapes and composition for my design projects. Interestingness (interes.tingness.com) is a daily photo wall of randomly generated interesting photographic inspiration from Flickr. Neat!

Photos in a Theme: Wrought Iron

I've got to get out there with the camera again. Until then, I find that gathering a variety of photos on the same subject is a good way to spark inspiration and creativity.

Plitvice Lakes

No words—just spectacular!

I stumbled into this photo in the Fotocommunity Galerie. The site is in German but you don't really need to know German to figure out previous (zurück) and next (weiter). This site is always worth a browse for the high quality photography.

Plitvice Lakes is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and national park in Croatia. The minerals and algae combined with the angle of the sun create some amazing blue and green shades in the water. In 1991, it was the site of the first armed conflict of the Croatian war that resulted in fatalities. Plitvice Lakes National Park was recognized as mine-free in 1998 and is one of the most popular Croatian tourist attractions today. Wikipedia has the full story.
