Holiday Card Inspiration 2009

Butterfly Card

It was a nice surprise to recently open up an envelope addressed to me and find this card. I had randomly noticed and admired this very card in a shop months ago and now there it was — right in my hands. I love the gold detailing on the butterfly wings and the simple and sweet design. Holidays Card Inspiration 2008

I like the simple and artistic feel of these holiday cards. The ornate green and white card is from Invitation Consultants and the rest from Pear Tree Greetings. I especially like how the Pear Tree Greetings designers were creative with not-so-traditional holiday colors.

My Work: Orange Tree Holiday Card

I designed this abstract orange tree holiday card as an e-card for my department to send out. It had to be somewhat generic but still graphically interesting and, if possible, include some aspect of what we do (Florida agricultural educational materials). A fun little project.

My Work: Lotus Henna card

I designed this colorful card for a traditional Indian wedding I attended recently. The lotus and henna patterns both respect the traditional element and are arranged in a simple composition with this love quote I found. Thanks to keepdesigning.com for the free mendhi/henna vector art used here.

My Work: Mandala Card

Right before I left for vacation, I designed this card for a friend of mine. I was inspired by the second character in the Florals2 font (free from dafont.com) to create this warm and rich mandala design. I love the way alternating colors and simple Photoshop effects can create a complete design from very few elements.

My Work: Simple Baby Shower Card

I made this simple and modern card for a friend's baby shower. I didn't have a whole lot of time to spend on it but it was still fun. I used a green and white color scheme to match the little hooded towel I bought for her baby. Font used: Helvetica.

My Work: Inside the Lotus

Extra time on my hands + lotus stock photos + lots of Photoshop layers and blending modes = a dreamy, textured, colorful piece of personal art. I create designs appropriate for a client's content and message in my day to day job so it's fun to create for myself once in a while.

Orange Dahlias

These fanciful and colorful dahlias just make me smile. I love the way the background color interacts with the petal color to create depth and dimension. These cards are available from Etsy.

"Modern yet folksy" wooden cards

It's kinda neat—postcards made out of wood. These two were my favorites. The hello card is actually an abstract peacock and I like the clever pattern/texture on the flower card.
